On the edge of the Ardennes, in the heart of the undulating rural landscape of Belgium’s Condroz region, the Auberge du Pont Lavoir looks out over one of the twenty most beautiful villages of Wallonia, Chardeneux. The Auberge takes its name from the little bridge where once the women came to do their washing in the stream that runs through the village. From the bridge you drive up a short track leading to the house on the hill.       The discerning visitor will appreciate the warm welcome and the peace and calm at this family-run hotel (7 rooms), and the aim throughout is to enable guests to recharge their batteries during their stay at the Auberge. At dinnertime the proprietor’s skill as chef in making creative use of local produce is noteworthy. Rather than an à la carte menu he proposes one main dish at each meal with an alternative choice. (Please notify any special dietary needs before your arrival). At breakfast there is freshly squeezed orange juice and a chance to sample several locally produced breads, cheeses and meat products and a variety of teas and coffees.   The hotel is purpose-built in natural stone in the local Condroz style and the rooms are spacious and full of light. The en-suite bathrooms feature a variety of natural hospitality products. All the latest technologies are to hand: satellite TV, WIFI everywhere, iPod/iPhone docking station and  iPad or computer available on request.       The unspoilt local countryside offers many attractions of interest to tourists of all ages. An in-house TV channel offers a short video introducing you to the Condroz region and its attractions. In or near your room you will find details and maps of hiking and biking routes as well as nearby tourist attractions such as Durbuy, ‘the smallest town in the world’, two golf courses, the astonishing Grottes de Hotton, cheese manufacturers…   Harmony is the keynote at the Auberge du Pont Lavoir, where the natural and human elements that characterise the Condroz region are subtly blended with the demands of a modern lifestyle.
