It’s the gateway to the magnificent Cape Whale Coast Route, an area renowned for world class quality land & boat based whale watching. The drive along the R44 Clarence Drive to Pringle Bay was voted by Condé Nast Travel as the best coastal drive in the world. The area is a UNESCO world heritage site, in a nutshell a protected Nature Reserve and one of the worlds 6 Floral Kingdoms. I love the solitude, no hectic city background noise, just the sound of birdlife and the ocean. The beach is under a 4 minute walk from the guesthouse, and the view of the beach and mountains is the star of the show from the house. The property overlooks False Bay, known as the “Serengeti of the ocean” for the extraordinary quantity of marine life. Dolphins and whales are regular visitors along our shoreline. Moonstruck on Pringle Bay is a 4 star property. I designed & owner built it to offer you the traveller, space, light, privacy & views. After many years of corporate travel I knew what I didn’t enjoy when staying in a property hence much thought and planning has gone into offering you a luxurious, stylish and laid back retreat. We pride ourselves on offering you discreet service. You can walk to a handful of quality restaurants, deli’s and coffee shops in our quaint village. The area is full of artists, writers and interesting people who have opted out of the rat race of every day life & embraced the enormity of nature. To enjoy what the surrounding area has to offer, a car is essential. The guesthouse is an “idyllic romantic getaway” for enjoying a coastal vacation. Access to the pristine sandy beach is via an indigenous “ fynbos” greenbelt, a few minutes stroll away, ensuring our accommodation is perfectly located for a beach vacation. Operating on a bed and breakfast (B&B) basis, guests savour quality breakfasts whilst enjoying mountain and ocean views, with an array of quality restaurants all within easy strolling distance of Moonstruck. Besides that it offers mountain and ocean views from its 25 m² private patio which leads onto the swimming pool deck. Enjoy typical vibrant African sunsets over the bay. Listen to the ocean and the abundant birdlife in the nature reserve in front of the house. The room offers an extra length king size bed (which can also be converted into single twins), a sizeable comfy couch to loll on, satellite television, a bar-fridge, bathrobes, slippers, beach towels, internet, an electronic safe and tea and coffee making facilities. The en-suite bathroom is sizeable offering a deep large bathtub, separate shower, toilet, under-floor heating, heated towel rail, bidet, hand basin and toilet. Calypso is so popular that return guests generally book around its availability; their home from home. Ophelia offers you 45 m² of private spacious accommodation on the ground floor. Your private living space is 67m² including your patio. Apart from that it has an extra length king size bed (which can be converted into single twin beds) and a 22 m² private patio leading onto the pool deck. Most importantly it offers you views as well. Relax on a deck chair and soak up the sounds of the ocean and bird life. Moonstruck offers an inclusive full breakfast, which includes tea/coffee, juice, fresh fruit, cereals and yoghurt, cold meat, croissants, rolls/toast, an assortment of cheeses and a cooked breakfast. Pringle Bay is fortunate to be home to some really good restaurants, most within easy walking distance from Moonstruck, others within easy driving distance. Offering fine country hospitality and quality produce, our restaurateurs pay homage to fine food and good service. Hook Line and Sinker: Featured and reviewed in numerous publications! Situated in Pringle Bay, you will be extremely fortunate to find a table available over weekends and in season at this rustic eatery serving line fish and seafood. Chefs Carl and Jacqui, offer only the finest fresh line fish and crustaceans, cooked on an open fire, a treat to watch. The menu is seasonal, and is dependent on the variety of seafood available. On any given day a mixed platter may include seared tuna, Cajun grilled calamari, fried monkfish with green peppercorn sauce and wild Mozambique prawns. An assortment of good wines to choose from, and what better way to finish off a meal than with a Creme Brulee . A definite must for lovers of fish simply prepared over an open fire. The original tea room is still operational, along with the Leopards Kloof restaurant which is located in a new building offering commanding views of the botanical gardens and Leopards Kloof.

Southern Right whales visit our shores each year from June to November to calf and mate, before departing again for their feeding grounds in the lower reaches of the Antarctic. We overlook False Bay, aptly called the Serengeti of the Sea for the rich diversity of marine life it boasts. We often spot pods of dolphins in the bay. Brydes whales are permanent residents and seasonal visitors include both Southern Right whales and Orcas. We can book boat based whale watching trips for you from either Hermanus or Gansbaai Harbours. If boats are not your thing, you can explore the coastline and enjoy quality land based whale watching from the shore. Come and explore the Cape Whale Coast route. Remember to bring your binoculars. WHALE WATCHING & DOLPHINS The Whale Coast Route starts in Gordon’s Bay and ends in Gansbaai. Pringle Bay is part of this scenic route. Southern Right whales visit our shores each year from June to November to calf and mate, before departing again for their feeding grounds in the lower reaches of the Antarctic. HAROLD PORTER BOTANICAL GARDENS Offering over 60 species of birds, forested gorges, waterfalls and a mind boggling number of plant species, the gardens are a joy to young and old alike. Look out for small mammals; there are leopards roaming in these mountains. This Garden is one of eight National Botanical Gardens within the National Botanical Institute, WILD HORSES Search for the elusive and mystical wild horses that roam free in the wetlands, maybe find them cantering across the dunes near the lagoon. There are many different stories regarding the origin of these wild horses. But whether truth or myth, these horses now roam free in the wetlands between Kleinmond and the Botriver lagoon. Mostly found near the Rooisands Nature Reserve, they remain illusive and mystical. PENGUINS AT STONY POINT Stony Point, the home of the African penguin. Ocean, mountains and birds ensure great photographic opportunities. This bird colony is one of the most beautiful and interesting seascapes along the African coast, and is the only area where mountains are found in such close proximity to the sea. Several sea birds breed in this colony, almost all of which are in decline. BIRD WATCHING It is a bird lovers paradise – along seashores, coastlands, mountains and in wetlands. The Hangklip area is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve. There are many beautiful quiet places here, where a variety of birdlife is to be found, be it in Pringle Bay village, the core area of the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve or the Harold Porter Botanical gardens. WALKING AND HIKING Hiking and walking trails along the Hangklip coastline are exciting and varied; mountains, beaches, rivers, forests and rocky shorelines. The area offers easy walks as well as difficult trails for advanced hikers. Hiking Hangklip is a hikers mecca. For beach lovers, there are many long walks along the pristine beaches. Numerous hiking trails are available in the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, as well as in Pringle Bay village and surrounds. POWDER WHITE BEACHES The Western Cape is renowned for offering some of the world’s finest beaches. Powder white beaches, azure ocean, dramatic African skies, imposing mountains, and this all bound intrinsically together. This is the Overberg region of the Western Cape. Pringle Bay boasts a long white beach, with dunes on the one side, the ocean on the other and mountains as far as the eye can see. Pringle Bay main beach is located 238 metres north of Moonstruck Guesthouse. This is our main swimming beach and also a superb beach to watch sunsets over the bay towards Cape Point. The area is a treasure trove for beach lovers/strandlopers. Apart from the main beach, there are small coves and “secret” beaches along our coastline. Our neighbouring village Betty’s Bay also offers many beaches, including Main beach, Dawidskraal (favoured by fishermen), Silversands ( renown for the nautilus paper shell) and Jocks Bay cove. The town of Kleinmond’s main beach enjoys blue flag status. Further afield there is Bikini beach in Gordons Bay and Hermanus’s finest beach called Grotto Beach. WINE ROUTES ThE relatively young wine routes of Elgin, Hemel en Aarde and Botrivier offer warm country hospitality incorporating historical and modern wineries, and is still relatively undiscovered. Explore the gravel roads linking Botriver to Elgin and Grabouw, venture towards Caledon and marvel at the rolling Cape landscape. CAGE SHARK DIVING Calling all adrenalin junkies. Is cage shark diving on your bucket list? The Great White Shark is the largest predatory fish and the most respected and feared resident of the sea, to both sailors and sea creatures alike. Depart from a small fishing village called Kleinbaai, which is near Gansbaai (100 kilometers from Pringle Bay), for a memorable day excursion. The trip includes a trip to Dyer Island, home to 23 different species of seabirds and the Geyer Rock Cape Fur Seal Colony. Enjoy lunch on board, and of course for the diving enthusiast, shark diving in a special steel cage, supervised by skilled Dive Masters. Surface viewing is also 90 % successful on most trips. A variety of golf courses to choose from, between a 20 and 90 minute drive from Moonstruck: Arabella Golf Course: Set along the banks of the Bot River lagoon, and flanked by the 6 star Arabella Hotel and Wellness Spa, this championship venue in a magnificent setting will test the best of golfers. Even the average hacker will also find it playable though, with wide fairways and splendid scenery which features on every round. Hermanus Golf Club: This course offers the keen golfer 18 incredible holes of golf, has become one of the most popular courses in the country and is a definite must play course. In the winter months, one might even catch a glimpse of a Southern Right Whale frolicking in the bay. Hermanus prides itself on being the self appointed Whale Capital internationally, and boasts sightings of up to 200 whales in the greater Walker Bay area at one time during season. The Hermanus Golf course is a true treat for golfers, with beautiful mountains on one side, the ocean on the other, and a picturesque town to wander through afterwards. Erinvale: This world-renowned course with its cleverly placed water hazards, sweeping fairways and deep bunkers lies at the foot of the Hottentots Holland and Helderberg mountains. Erinvale’s trademark lies in the difference between its front nine and back nine, with holes on the front nine being mostly level with lots of water, however on the back nine; you will hardly get a level lie. It boasts being one of the country’s best courses Stellenbosch Golf Club: This course has hosted both the SA Open and Masters Championships and provides a true challenge to any golfer. It is situated at the foot of the Helderberg Mountains in the heart of the Stellenbosch winelands and is very picturesque. Strand Golf Course: An excellent professional is available at this course, for those requiring coaching. Situated within walking distance from the beach, with large fairways, difficult water hazards and stunning mountain views, this course is definitely worth a visit. Kleinmond Golf Course: This course is flanked by the Kogelberg Mountains, with a sea view virtually from every hole. It is a challenging 9-hole course, with 18 different tees, a natural Fynbos rough, and is in immaculate condition. The club members are extremely friendly, with visitor’s being most welcome, and the Fynbos which includes Protea’s and Erica’s is truly beautiful.
