Disappointing Stay – Poor Service and Lack of Care I stayed at this hotel during my recent visit to Palermo, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. First of all, the breakfast staff were incredibly unfriendly and visibly annoyed – not just once, but every single morning. A warm “Good morning” or even a smile seemed too much to ask for. When I asked for a recommendation for a nice beach nearby, the only answer I got was “Mondello Beach.” While Mondello is fine, there are definitely more beautiful and less crowded beaches in the area – something the staff either didn’t know or didn’t care to share. Even worse, when I asked how to get there, they directed me to a bus stop that was a 40-minute walk away. I later found out I could have taken a different bus just 10 minutes from the hotel. It’s truly frustrating when the people at the front desk can’t (or won’t) give proper directions to such a basic tourist destination. The housekeeping service was also problematic. On multiple occasions, the cleaning staff threw away my personal belongings – including important airport bus timetables, a hotel flyer with the Wi-Fi password, and even some local pastries and partially used water bottles that I had bought myself. When I brought this up at the reception, the receptionist called the housekeeping department and informed the housekeeping manager. While they did apologize, I honestly expected a bit more than just a verbal apology after such repeated carelessness – perhaps some form of compensation or at least a more serious follow-up. Sadly, nothing of the sort happened. I want to add that I’ve never written a hotel complaint before, and I’m certainly not someone with overly high expectations. In fact, I work in the hotel industry myself – and I know for sure that this is not how guests should be treated. A bit of warmth, attentiveness, and common sense can go a long way, but unfortunately, I experienced none of that here. Overall, I was very disappointed with the service and lack of attention to guests’ needs. This is not the kind of experience I expected, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to others visiting Palermo.
