Hotel Altes Forsthaus

Das Altes Forsthaus is a real family hotel in the mitst of the Harz. It is a clean hotel with comfortable family rooms a great restaurant and friendly staff. The price/value equivalent is super and the service you get is great. Come in the fall because the area is stunning in that time of year

We were in a family room and we think that the room is very clean and are of descent size. Everyday they come in and clean the room and ofcourse give you new towels. If you want to do some laundry they will do it for you. The shower area is a little bit small but very manageble If you have a laptop you can logon to the local hotspot, or you can watch some television.

The food was great. We booked a half pension holiday, so our choices were limited. We could choose everyday out of two menus (a three course menu)and everyday the food was great and the portions they served was good. We didnt eat twice the same menu. (we stayed there for two weeks) The atmosphere is season orientated an very tastfully done. it gives you a very warm feeling.

I can only say that the service, friendlyness of the staff was outstanding.

The village of Braunlage is very active compared to the surrounding villages. there are 4 supermarkets closeby various restaurants shops and a Kurpark, and because Braunlage is in the middle of the Harz region everything is close. you can make great (cultural)daytrips in the direct area and it will only take you 30 to 45 minutes by car to get there.

The Hotel itself offers you inspiration to do things in the direct area and you can make use of the local swimming pool for free. The hotel further more gives you free acces to the internet threw wireles adsl connection. there are no direct faccilities for children except for a small playing area in the restaurant
