my 13 year old son and I had two rooms one with a double bed and one with 2 singles, a large bathroom and enough hanging space etc for clothes, immaculate condition, clean and bright with a lovely balcony overlooking the ocean. The hotel itself is beautiful, everything is clean and kept in very good condition, the food is excellent, both European and Egyptian food is delicious and the animation team fantastic (even when being bullied by a german guy who portrayed himself as a gymnastic expert, they remained calm and professional), the animation team offers a wide range of activities from gymnastics, aerobics, water polo, archery, salsa, bachata, volley ball and two clubs one for up to 12 years old and one from 12 to 16. I have been at this hotel in February 2007 and in July 2008, both times everything was in immaculate conditions, very friendly service, excellent food and a great animation team.. what more can one want... if you are looking for a relaxing holiday or one where you can join in some sport, this is the place for you, excellent for diving and snorkelling.. for all ages a dream!

There is the main restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a wide variety of food from European to Egyptian, very delicious and very fresh, another restaurant is situated nearer to the beach and is run by Mustafa a very friendly excellent cook providing food like pizzas, pasta, hamburger and chicken sandwiches (changing orders to taste) and fresh melon at poolside with a smile :-), drinks can be obtained at the pool bar, the lobby bar and in the restaurant nearer to the beach nearly all day long as well as ice cream for the kids and "young" adults.

Other hotels could learn from the Staff at Lamaya, friendliness to perfection, even when I had to cancel one of the day trips because of sun burn it was no problem whatsoever. The Staff speak English, German, Italien and French and Arabic. The hotel rooms are immaculate and all in all there is a very easy going relaxed atmosphere. One so called German gymnastic instructor was very rude to the animation team and tried to black mouth them off to the Manager and to other staff but was dealt with in a friendly but professional manner, it is a shame that such people who probably have very little to say in their own country have to fluff up their feathers and put everyone else down even though they are doing an excellent job.

The Hotel is situated in a beautiful bay containing 3 other top hotels plus a diving centre and a quad bike rental place, the hotel has a beach area and from a bridge direct access to the ocean where one can dive or snorkell at leisure. A 5 min walk around the bay enables direct walking access into the ocean on a sandy beach without disturbing the coral reef. There is not much to buy around the hotel, just a few local shops directly outside and a few more after a 5 min walk, including a chemists.. just in case.. A whole new hotel and centre (coffee shop etc) is being built opposite the neighbouring hotel but this does not disturb guests in the least.

The animation team is great, they offer such a wide variety of activities covering everyones needs, they are not too obtrusive but try to provide an atmosphere with which everyone feels comfortable. They possess many skills from dancing (all kinds such as Saksa to Step dancing) and offer activities on a daily basis such as Volleyball, gymnastic, water aerobics, salsa, water polo etc, plus entertainment show in the Amphibien theater in the evenings and disco 3 x a week. One so called German gymnastic instructor was very rude to the animation team and tried to black mouth them off to the Manager and to other guests but was dealt with in a friendly but professional manner, it is a shame that such people who probably have very little to say in their own country have to fluff up their feathers and put everyone else down even though they are doing an excellent job. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.. a lot of laughing and a lot of fun but also enough time to relax.
