Die Lage des Hotels ist phänomenal. Die U-Bahn Station Russell Square ist gleich um die Ecke (vielleicht 50m). Aber auch zu Fuß sind viele Sehenswürdigkeiten u.ä. schnell erreichbar (The British Museum, Oxford Street, King´s Cross - St. Pancras, Soho, Covent Garden). Für einen Städtetrip ist das Hotel sehr gut geeignet. Enttäuschend fanden wir nichts. Wir hatten bei der Buchung im Reisebüro Continental Breakfast gebucht. Das besteht standardmäßig aus Toast, Marmelade, Butter und Cornflakes. Wir haben vor Ort dann für 5 Pfung pro Tag/pro Person auf das English Breakfast upgegraded, was sich wirklich gelohnt hat (English Breakfast im Hotel war lecker, reichlich da Buffet, und mit 5 Pfund günstiger als außerhalb des Hotels in einem Cafe).
Sauberes, neu renoviertes Zimmer. Die Zimmergröße war eher klein, was ich allerdings bei einem Städtetrip als ausreichend empfinde, schließlich waren wir nur zum Schlafen dort und sonst den ganzen Tag unterwegs. Die Einrichtung sowie das Badezimmer waren neu. Zimmerausstattung: Bad mit Badewanne und WC, TV (hauptsächlich englische Sender, aber auch N-TV), Wasserkocher inkl. Tee und Instantkaffee (wurde jeden Tag aufgefüllt), Doppelbett, Sessel, kleiner Schreibtisch/Ablage, Schrank und Spiegel.
Das Frühstücksrestaurant (gleichzeitig das Dinnerrestaurant) war ebenfalls neu renoviert, sauber und überraschend schick. Trotz Buffet und teilweise viel Betrieb beim Frühstück, war ich beim Frühstück nicht gestresst. Auswahl, Menge und Geschmack des angebotenen English Breakfast waren gut, deutlich über dem Durchschnitt.
Das Personal war freundlich und hat all unsere Fragen schnell beantwortet. Da wir keine Beschwerden hatten, kann ich keine Aussage machen, wie das Personal damit umgegangen wäre.
Hervorragende Verkehrsanbindung an die London Underground (Russell Square direkt vor der Tür). Vom Flughafen Gatwick mit dem normalen Zug (Thamesline - City Link, 8 Pfund p.P) in 55 Min. bis King´s Cross - St. Pancras International. Von dort entweder eine Station mit der U-Bahn oder kurzer Fußweg (ca. 15-20 Min) bis zum Hotel. Bestend geeignet für Städtereisen
