New Zoo in Poznan was founded on the hundredth anniversary of the opening of the Old Zoo in te city. The need to create a new facility wad due to lack of space in the previous one. New Zoo was founded in a very attractive location, near Lake Malta. Since 1971, the animals have been gradually transferred to the new facility. Only the pavilion with poikilotherms was left in the old one. Currently, New Zoo in Poznan covers an area of about 117 hectares, making it the second largest zoo in Poland. Visitors of the zoo are given a possibility to travel around it in a train. For children, there has also been prepared a mini zoo, where kids can pet and feed farm animals.
