Our grounds are host to 20 elephants, the majority of whom spent their early lives begging on the streets (where we found them, the model of the camp was set up deliberately to help these elephants) or from logging camps. Due to the size and strength of the elephants as well as the worry that remnants of their past may affect their current behavior our guest activities are carefully supervised by professional staff. Chances to meet and interact with the elephants in a supervised and safe manner or to learn from our on-site vet staff and Research Assistants are included in our Discovery Package and, as a result, most guests to avail themselves of these chances. We regret that, outside these times, due to the rigours of keeping all 20 of our elephants (many of whom guests never see) safe and happy we cannot always provide supervision and information to our guests.
