Dear Heidi, Thank you very much for publicly commenting on your experience of the new year’s eve party and provide me the opportunity to clarify. While I appreciate that all our 140 diners that evening wanted to sit on the upper deck, unfortunately there was only space for 30 people , which meant that it was physically impossible to let everyone go to the top deck as there simply isn’t enough space and the boat could have easily had an accident as it would have been ’top heavy’, At the time I had hoped you and your group would have tried to understand the situation but unfortunately no one wanted to listen. Just for clarity neither my team or I personally knew any of guests who were on the top deck, they were simply our hotel guests who had also booked the dinner. We have been operating this trip for the last 6 years and this is the first issue we have ever had as the lower deck has open sides so the fireworks display can easily been seen. Further more the boat also had an open area in the front and the back which provided even more room viewing the show. It was unfortunate that no polite conversation or dialog could be had with your group at the time and to further compel the issue when an other passenger (not sure if he was also part of your group) was screaming just 1” inch from my face threatening me with violence and the fact that your group refused to allow anyone else on the boat unless your demands were met I had no other option than to inform you that I would have defer the situation to the police otherwise it would have been too late to see the fireworks display for everyone concerned. While I appreciate that a lot of alcohol had already been consumed the reason I was called to try to find a solution at 23:00 hrs was because my team who were trying to previously deal with you were also in fear that the situation would get out of control due to the general behaviour. I also do not understand your comment that drinks were finished before 24:00 as the bar on the boat was extremely busy from the beginning to the end of the trip and the fireworks display started at 24:00 hrs and the boat took another 30 minutes to get back to the hotel. In fact by the time the boat got back to the hotel at approximately 12:45 hrs which was the finishing time, your group had requested another bottle of wine which I greed to. In conclusion I sincerely regret that your seating expectations were not met and apologise that we could not solve the issue at the time.
